Expert: Instagram loses half Russian authors since operation start

MOSCOW, Apr 11 (PRIME) -- About 48% of active authors have left the Russian segment of Instagram, which is viewed by the country as extremist and is officially blocked, after the start of the special operation in Ukraine and the number of daily posts has fallen by 46%, researcher Brand Analytics said in a statement on April 9.

“The main figure of today’s survey is a fall by 48% of the number of active Russian-speaking authors of Instagram from the start of the special operation – from February 24 till April 6, 2022. By March 24, according to the earlier monitoring, the decrease had amounted to 31% only,” Brand Analytics said.

An active author is a user who makes at least one post, story, comment, or repost during the period in question.

The number of active authors of the Russian segment of Facebook, which is also seen as extremist in the country and is blocked, plunged 21% and the volume of content melted 28%, according to Brand Analytics.
